FREAK SNOW MEANS GAME OFF
An afternoon snow storm led to the late postponement of the home game with Albion Rovers at Ochilview.
Both teams had arrived at the stadium when, around 1:30pm, an intense 30 minute blizzard covered the Ochilview pitch in serveral centimetres of snow.
Referee Neil Watters gave ground staff every chance to clear the lines but, after testing conditions for himself, decided to call the match off at around 2:20pm, 40 minutes before the scheduled kick-off time.
He was worried about players being unable to hold their footing, but there were also understandable safety concerns for any spectators.
The wind blew the snow directly into the main stand, leaving all the seats covered and the walkways and stairways slippy and difficult to negotiate. Mr Watters decision also took this into consideration.
The two clubs have agreed to try again on Tuesday 29th December with a 7:45pm kick-off, although this will require the agreement and approval of Stenhousemuir FC.
