REST MAY DO US GOOD -URE
Derek Ure believes a break this weekend may be no bad thing for Shire's efforts to last the pace in the Third Division title race.
Scottish Cup elimination at the hands of Forfar Athletic last month means the team has no match this weekend. The players have been given time off rather than an extra training session.
And the club's longest-serving player says it could be good for everyone.
"I think everyone would prefer to have a game on a Saturday but I think a wee rest and a re-charge of the batteries can help just as much. The boys have been given Saturday off but I think you will find veryone will be out doing their own wee bit to stay in shape," he said.
Derek's own battle with injury has been well documented. It's only a fortnight since he made his first start of the season, against Forfar Athletic, and his two appearances have co-incided with two victories after three straight defeats. He's delighted just be be back in the team.
"I don't think I've been spectacular. I've done OK but nothing better than that," he said of his two starts this season. "Everyone has their own wee bit to do on the pitch. And hopefully we can all pull our weight collectively and win games."
The team now sit second in the league table and Derek believes there's no reason why they can maintain that position, and maybe even better it.
"I don't see why not," he said of mounting a title challenge. "We have the players who are capable of getting us up there challenging. We are in a decent position now and what we really need to do is take it on from here and make the leap we need to make."
