I'LL PLAY ANYWHERE - CRAIG

Craig Donaldson admits he got more than a surprise when coach Jim McInally asked him to fit in at right-back against Stranraer, but says he would be happy to play there again.

The right-sided midfielder was only told of the tactical switch after he arrived at Stair Park last weekend but still managed to put in a decent shift in an unfamiliar role in the team's 2-1 win.

"I had never started a game at right-back in my life," Craig told shireTV. "It was OK, although it's a bit different to what I  am used to, especially when you have a flying winger coming at you and you have to try and stop him.

"There is certainly less running to do in that position than there would be out on the right-hand side of midfield. I thought I  did quite well in the circumstances."

The Stranraer match was Craig's first start in more than a month after he picked up an ankle injury in training, and he admits he found it difficult to get back in to the team.

"It was frustrating after playing in a lot of the games last year, but that was down to the boys playing well.

"You can't really go around moaning about it you just have to get your head down and work hard in training in the hope that you will get back in."

Shire have no game this weekend, but Craig is the first to recognise December will be an important month for the club. Three successive games against third place Berwick Rangers, Albion Rovers and league leaders Livingston will go a big way to deciding whether the team can keep up the pace.

"We have a break and that will give us the rest we maybe need. Hopefully that will allow us to re-charge and come back really fired up for these games," he said.
